Artist Name: Olivia Hagge
Grade Level: 12th
Current Course Level: AP Photography
How long have you been enrolled in art courses? All four years of upper school.
What was your inspiration for the work? Quarantine protected me from the negative interruptions of society. Due to the time I had with myself during this peculiar time, I was able to flow as an artist. Being the only person to judge my own work during quarantine allowed my artistic ideas to be drawn from my rawest and most pure self. My self-portrait, “Hibernation”, focuses on the itch of agitation one experiences during a period of isolation, despite the state of solitude during quarantine. Using a long exposure shutter speed creates the illusion of motion along with the superimposed fluttering butterflies that surround me.
About the Artist: Olivia will be attending NYU in the fall for Photography.
