Moorman's Closet: Kate Moorman '26 Continues Family Partnership with Foster Elementary
September 24, 2025
The Episcopal School of Dallas has a long-standing partnership with Stephen C. Foster Elementary through United to Learn, a Dallas-based nonprofit dedicated to accelerating student achievement across Dallas ISD elementary schools. From this partnership, a powerful student-led initiative was born.
In 2019, Reid Moorman ’22 launched Moorman’s Closet, a program dedicated to providing new uniforms for Foster Elementary students in need, especially those who are new to the school. What started with Reid designing flyers to collect brand-new polo shirts has since grown into a family legacy. Each year, the Moormans gather and donate more than 100 shirts to ensure every student has what they need to feel confident and prepared for school.
After Reid graduated, his younger brother Benjamin ’24 carried the torch, continuing the project throughout his four years at ESD. Now, Kate Moorman ’26 has taken the lead, recently collecting and donating 100 shirts for the 2025-26 school year.
Both Reid and Benjamin also dedicated their time volunteering at Foster Elementary while at ESD, and Kate is now following in their footsteps. Inspired by the Spanish Service Learning Program, Moorman’s Closet is a testament to the lasting impact of ESD’s commitment to service and to how one family’s dedication can make a difference year after year.
