A friendly reminder that ESD operates in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and it is important to drive, park, and walk with this in mind. Please:

• Put phones down while in the carpool line or driving near campus.
• Do not U-turn on Merrell or Midway Roads.
• Do not cut through neighborhood streets.
• Only queue for carpool on Midway and Merrell Roads; please do not queue on side streets (e.g., Gooding Drive, etc.).
• Do not block neighborhood streets while in the carpool line.
• Always follow the direction of the DPD and security officers.

In Lower School, the year begins with reminders during chapel and throughout the day that the ESD Way guides our actions and interactions. The reminders to “stay curious and seek solutions” and “appreciate and encourage others” invite us to reflect on the impact we have on others and to decide if we are showing up as our best selves. Consider the posters, prayers, songs, and even billboards that surround you at school, at home, and at church and invite you to reflect on your impact. Create a family habit of noticing these nudges and sharing your quick reflections.

• For younger students: Read the ESD Way together as a family and choose one line that helps you make good choices. When have you used this part of the ESD Way with your classmates and family members? When is it hard to follow this part of the ESD Way?
• For older children, teenagers, and adults: While the ESD Way is written with Lower School students in mind, the reminders apply to all ages. Choose either the ESD Way, the ESD School Prayer, or a familiar poster, prayer, or song that invites reflection. Choose a specific line and think about how the words challenge you to evaluate your words and actions and the impact they have on others.
