An integral part of the hiring process at The Episcopal School of Dallas centers around unconscious bias training for all hiring managers and hiring team participants for each applicant. Unconscious bias training is facilitated Elizabeth Goatley, PhD, MSSW, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at ESD, in partnership with Division Heads, Assistant Division Heads, and Department Chairs. Prior to the first applicant interview, participants note their individual bias and develop cultural competency questions to include in the interview. The team also identifies characteristics they would like to see in the candidates, and what makes a good fit for both the position and the ESD community.
