Senior Parent Picnic 2021
Wednesday, May 19, 2021
Stoffel Commons (The Chapel Lawn)
Festivities Start at 7:00 p.m.
One of the most memorable traditions marking the end of senior year is the annual Senior Parent Dinner. We are so excited and grateful we will be able to hold this meaningful event this year! All members of the Class of 2021 and their parents are invited to enjoy an upscale and curated outdoor picnic experience on Stoffel Commons at ESD! The wide-open grassy space offers springtime vibes and starry nights, with a place to unwind and safely socialize with fellow members of the Class of 2021. YOU BRING THE PICNIC BLANKET, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE REST.
- At check-in grab your keepsake ESD picnic cooler - packed full of all your favorites and head out on the lawn to celebrate the Class of 2021.
- To top it off, you will hear from Head of School Dave Baad and Class of 2021 Dean Caryn Rossiter and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors on a blanket with the ones you love.
Picnic and drink are included. Attire: picnic chic. Park, please, in the main lot on Merrell Road.
Many thanks to all those involved with making this incredible night possible. If you have questions, please reach out to Heather Esping and Ann Hobson.
ABOUT THE SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT TRADITION.
The purpose of the Senior Capstone Project is to further create community within the senior class, foster teamwork, encourage communication, and maintain our students’ focus on service as they embark on a journey beyond high school. As a class, students choose one local community organization to support throughout the year. The service capstone encourages seniors to find and create unique opportunities to serve the organization directly and indirectly.
THE CLASS OF 2021 CAPSTONE PROJECT
The Class of 2021 selected Café Momentum for their project. Working within the structures and guidelines in place due to COVID-19, they elected to produce a cookbook with personal and family favorites. The 56 recipes, including three from Café Momentum, range from quick breakfasts to Gâteau de Chocolate and everything in between.
ABOUT CAFÉ MOMENTUM
Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant and program that offers a 12-month paid post-release internship for young men and women coming out of juvenile detention. These Interns rotate through all aspects of the restaurant, working to transform young lives by equipping them with life skills, education, and employment opportunities to help them reach their full potential.
WHY IS CAFÉ MOMENTUM AN IMPORTANT ORGANIZATION FOR THE SENIOR CLASS TO SUPPORT?
“I think Café Momentum is a great organization to support because they have a unique mission, providing great food in a restaurant and giving it back to those in need and the community. I think we were also able to have fun with the project and have our cookbook to remember it by.”
– Sam Lindsey
“I loved the cookbook project because it felt like more than just a community service project. It felt like the senior class had come together to actually create something that would last.”
– Lucy Sinwell
“Café Momentum is such a good cause and the food was also so good. Our waiter told us about his experiences and it made me happy that he had the opportunity to gain work experience and turn his life around.”
– Liesl Small
