Alumni eEngagement

Nothing brings us more joy than gathering with alumni in person;
however, the current situation is limiting our ability to do so.

The safety and health of all members of the ESD community is our number one priority, and we must strictly adhere to the recommendations and guidelines from Dallas County Health and Human Service and the CDC. As a result, we must change how we operate for the time being.

Please use this page as a resource for information during this time. Below we have provided event updates for the remainder of the school year as well as several new ways we plan to eEngage with alumni during these uncertain times.

2020 Alumni Weekend Events Rescheduled

We are postponing certain events scheduled to take place during Alumni Weekend 2020, initially on April 23-25, 2020. We know that many of you were looking forward to seeing classmates and celebrating a wonderful milestone next month, but in consideration of travel arrangements and with the current guidance around limiting group events, we felt that it was important to postpone this event.

The Golf and Tennis Tournaments have been rescheduled for Friday, September 18, 2020. Reunions for the 0s and 5s, as well as reunions for the 1s and 6s, will be held during Alumni Weekend 2021, which is scheduled for April 22-24, 2021. We will share additional information with you in the months to come.

10th Annual Eagle Laureate Dinner Postponed

While the Eagle Laureate Dinner is on the calendar for May 15, 2020, we cannot determine if the limits on gathering will be lifted by then. We have postponed the 10th Annual Eagle Laureate Dinner to May 14, 2021. We understand the disappointment this might cause as we are beyond excited to honor ESD's exemplary faculty and staff, but we believe this is the best possible choice given the information we have.

Jeff Laba, Ellen Neill, and Rebecca Royall will be the Inspirit Accolade honorees in 2021. We will recognize all faculty and staff members who celebrate 20 years at ESD for 2020 and 2021, as well.

Campus Closed; Learning and Teaching Continue
Following the recently issued Shelter in Place for Dallas County, the ESD campus is closed until further notice. Throughout the planning process, developing a distance learning program that continues delivering on ESD's mission has been our goal. Staying true to our Founding Tenets of daily worship, academic rigor, and experiences in community is paramount. You should not be surprised to hear that the faculty and staff at ESD have gone above and beyond for their students to make sure the change in operations is seamless. ESD students are adapting well to our new normal, and we continue to press on.
