Middle School Visual and Performing Arts

In accordance with the Mission Statement, the ESD's visual and performing arts provide an environment for an increased understanding of self, artistic and creative talents, and our relationship to other people and the world. These courses are based on the development of artistic technique, creativity, and perceptual skills in a variety of media, highlighting the role of self-assessment. Courses for 5th and 6th grade are quarter-long while 7th and 8th grade courses are semester-long with options for some classes to be taken for multiple terms.

Across divisions, our students have the opportunity to learn from some of the finest artists and teachers as they develop their artistic skills. Our teachers aren’t just experts, they are passionate and professional working artists who encourage creativity, self-expression and skilled craftsmanship.
