Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities for the ESD 2013-14 school year are now available online!

The ESD Parents' Association could not provide its valuable services without YOU!  Thank you for your thoughtful consideration and enthusiastic participation.  Volunteering is a great way to get involved and to meet people in our community!

If you are interested in a leadership role in the Parents' Association, please nominate yourself or a friend for any of the positions listed on the ESD volunteer website including Carnival, Grade Rep., Bingo Chair, Grandparent’s Day, Auction, Eagles Nest, and so much more! Please see the attached document “Leadership Positions” for descriptions of jobs available next year. The system will be open for nominating today through Sunday, January 27.

How to Sign Up

The School Volunteer system allows for direct volunteer sign-up. Please click here to access The School Volunteer, register yourself as a volunteer, and click on the "Volunteer Here" tab to see the positions that have direct volunteer sign-up. Descriptions of each position are available by placing your mouse over the name of the position or clicking the + symbol in front of each position.

• It's a new system, so be sure to check out "Helpful Hints" for detailed instructions including using the save and submit buttons frequently. 
• Please use only ONE EMAIL to register in the system. If you're unsure, please check to see if you are a registered user by entering your email and clicking “Forgotten Password.”
• Sign up early as some positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Helpful Hints for Using the School Volunteer

• Please use only ONE EMAIL to register in the system – you can click on the “My Info” tab to change your preferred email at any time. If you are unsure, please check to see if you are a registered user by entering your email and clicking “Forgotten Password.”  If not, please click New Volunteer and follow the directions.  If you are already registered, please log in and click the “Volunteer Here” tab to get started.  
• Choose the appropriate Division(s) you would like to volunteer within (Lower Campus or Middle & Upper Campus) and be mindful of the “Domain” of each position before you volunteer to be sure you are choosing the correct school/grade level you are wanting.  Any volunteer job that includes all levels of the school is listed in both divisions (the Auction, Spring Luncheon, etc.).
• When there is only a square box to check to the right of a position – that is a straightforward collection of names of volunteers interested in doing that job.  When you see the word “Choices” - please click that option to see more choices available to you regarding that position (grade levels, shifts, more specific jobs listed).  The committee chairs in charge of these positions will be contacting you regarding your interest in helping them.
• Please use the SAVE or SUBMIT button frequently to save your choices – best practice is to save after every choice you make and then continue looking for other opportunities.  The system may log you off at times if system use is high or if you let your computer sit idle for a few minutes.  Your choices will not be saved if you do not click the save or submit buttons before exiting the system.  
• You can see a summary of your choices when you click the “Volunteer Here” tab and then click “Display My Choices.”  You can delete choices here if needed.   From that page, you can click on a more detailed “Display My Schedule” tab. 
• If you encounter difficulties with the website, please close your browser window and log back in again to see if that will solve the problem.  If it doesn’t, wait a few minutes and retry.  If problems persist, please contact the Volunteer Chair at the email below or click on the “Request Help” tab within the system.

About the School Volunteer

We have adopted a new volunteer recruiting system called the School Volunteer which is  
currently being used by a number of schools including Greenhill, Hockaday, Parish, and Lamplighter.   Among the many reasons that the Parents' Association Board voted to use the School Volunteer are:

• The system is available online at all times. 
• It allows both direct volunteer sign-up and nominating for board and committee chair positions.
• Descriptions of each position are available by placing your mouse over the name of the position.
• Further breakdown of volunteer assignments is available – i.e. volunteering to work concessions for a particular sport, on a specific date and time.
• Event chairs can send emails to their volunteers directly from the system but the email addresses are kept private.
