Community Service

Service to others is a Founding Tenet of ESD and every grade level has a community service requirement. "The Community Service Program broadens the outlooks of our students and prepares them for a lifetime of service to others," says Community Service Director Christi Morrow. Students are encouraged to "make a difference" in ways that interest them. ESD's annual Volunteer Service Fair features 30+ non-profit agencies and educates Middle and Upper School students on opportunities and needs in the community.

Program Goals

  • To provide assistance where needed in various areas of the community, supporting a variety of agencies in the areas of social services, literacy and education, health and wellness, senior citizens, hunger and homelessness, children's issues, and the environment.
  • To instill in students a sense of life-long responsibility for the greater community, teaching them that they have an obligation to share their blessings.
  • To raise social awareness and broaden students' outlooks through participation in a wide range of experiences so that they learn to cooperate with and learn from people of various backgrounds and life situations.
  • To help students recognize that they are serving God by serving others.
