One of ESD’s beloved faculty members, Tim Couch, will be retiring at the end of this school year after 24 years of service to the school. Mr. Couch, a Middle School Religion teacher and sixth-grade advisor, is known among students and alumni for his incredible storytelling, so he volunteered to share this gift one last time at both Lower and Middle School chapels.
During Lower School chapel, Mr. Couch regaled young students with creative and lively stories that he has shared many times over his tenure at ESD, filled with different voices and even animals. His Middle School story was equally as riveting, though more somber than the ones for Lower School. It was a tale to remind students that they each have a responsibility to carry on telling stories.
At the end of the Middle School chapel, all Middle School faculty members surprised Mr. Couch with a song. They sang Auld Lang Syne to him as Reverend Heller presented him with an engraved chalice in honor of his dedication to chapel services throughout.
Mr. Couch is one of nine teachers retiring this year. We will miss them dearly and never forget the impact they had on our school. Thank you all for your services!
