The Stephen B. Swann Athletic and Wellness Center

The Father Swann Center encompasses more than 100,000 square feet, including the renovated Hart Athletic Center and several new accommodations. 

The Daryl Johnston Family Dining Commons

With seating for 480 students and faculty, this space allows every member of the Upper or Middle School to eat together. The new servery has been designed as a “laboratory” in which the community can experiment with different food choices and preparations. It includes “scatter stations” for students and facultyto select their meals quickly from several healthy food choices. Menus, developed by Sage Dining Services (SAGE) and in conjunction with UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Center for Human Nutrition, are prepared fresh onsite by SAGE and accommodate a variety of dietary needs.

The Geodesic Growing Dome

The Geodesic Growing Dome (ESD’s greenhouse) provides hands-on experiences in botany and biology and includes edible plants that are used in ESD’s kitchen.

Gymnasiums 

Between the competition gymnasium, the renovated Haggar Family Gymnasium, and the auxiliary gym, ESD has the capability to utilize five courts for basketball practice and six courts for volleyball practice. Additionally, an indoor track surrounds the competition gymnasium and is ideal for training during inclement weather and for overflow at popular sporting events.

Strength and Conditioning Center

The Strength and Conditioning Center has more than 4,500 sq. ft. of workout space for athletic teams. Included are 12 "working stations" that allow 24 student-athletes to be lifting simultaneously, and 48-50 athletes (2 or 3 teams) to train at once, safely and efficiently. 

Fitness and Cardio Center

The 3,500 sq. ft. Fitness Center includes 22 cardio machines, 16 weight circuit machines, and a dumbbell weights area available for students, faculty, parents, and alumni. It also houses a state-of-the art “ERG” room for crew.

Sports Medicine Suite

The sports medicine suite measures more than 1,945 sq. ft. and is equipped with 3 taping stations, 4 rehab tables, as well as hot and cold hydrotherapy pools.

Dance and Yoga Room

The dance and yoga room is equipped with mirrors, hand rails, a sound system, and "sprung flooring." 

Wrestling Room

The wrestling room has two competition mats and allows ESD to host wrestling meets throughout the season.

Spin Room

The spin room hosts 16 top-of-the-line spin bikes supervised by a certified spin instructor.
