Arts
Art permeates the human experience and facilitates personal expression. It can inspire, provoke, and engage. Art serves as a mirror to reflect and record emotions, ideas, history, and human understanding of the lofty and mundane. Indeed, art traces the course of humanity, often surviving as the only witness to ancient societies now reduced to rubble. While art itself can survive the passage of time, encouraging students to remain active in the arts throughout their school career and beyond can prove a daunting task. As Pablo Picasso once observed, "Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
At ESD, creating lifelong artists begins with the encouragement of students' individual talents and abilities through instruction that inspires them to explore expression in the performance and visual arts programs. "At ESD, we are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience," Chief Academic Officer, Rebecca Royall explains. "We believe exposure to the arts is a significant piece of this experience."
