- US English
The primary focus of the English Department is to help students achieve the ability to read and think criticalis and communicate effectively in a variety of written and spoken modes. As students progress through the scope and sequence from pre-kindergarten through the senior English curriculum, their skills in recognizing the elements of literature, appreciating the complexity and coherence of good writing, understanding the major periods in literary history, and reading works that challenge their perspectives and philosophies should also evolve. The Upper School curriculum is designed to promote a deeper understanding of mathematical abstractions and the ability to solve problems using sound logical progressions. Read More >
- US History
The History Department at ESD has two primary goals. We emphasize the acquisition of factual knowledge and the understanding of historical, social, political, and economic concepts. Read More >
- US Science
Science courses in the ninth through twelfth grades offer a traditional college preparatory curriculum. This curriculum fulfills our students’ need for the basic science education necessary for all adults to be productive and responsible citizens in today’s world. Read More >
- US Classical & Modern Languages
The aim of the department is to expose students to the classical and modern languages in the liberal arts tradition of a college preparatory school. The programs in the department are directed towards language learning and acquisition skills and the observation and appreciation of cultures. Read More >
- US Religious Studies
The Episcopal School of Dallas is a faith-centered school in which the predominant religion is Christian. The Department lives with the tension of honoring a Judeo-Christian tradition in the midst of an increasingly secular and pluralistic culture. - US Computer Science
ESD is committed to an integrated and cross-disciplinary computer
curriculum. Each department is encouraged to enhance its respective
curriculum with the use of computers. Students are required to complete a one-semester computer course to meet graduation requirements. Read More >
